On the second Tuesday of August, the poetry night at Sappho Books will play host to AVANT GAGA #39, with guest poets Jessica Wilkinson, Maarten van der Graaff (Netherlands), Holly Friedlander Liddicoat, and more to be announced, plus the usual open mic section. JESSICA L. WILKINSON
’s published books include marionette: a biography of miss marion davies, and Suite for Percy Grainger. She is completing a third, on choreographer George Balanchine. She is the founding editor of Rabbit: a journal for nonfiction poetry, and teaches Creative Writing at RMIT University.

MAARTEN VAN DER GRAAFF
is a Dutch poet and writer. He made his debut in 2013 with Vluchtauto poem. In 2014, this collection was awarded the C. Buddingh Prize. In 2015 he published Doodwerk, his second collection, which was awarded the JC Bloem poetry prize. His debut novel Worms and Angels was published in 2017. His poems are translated into English by Mia You.

HOLLY FRIEDLANDER LIDDICOAT
is a poet, editor and performer who has previously been published in Cordite, Otoliths, Rabbit, Seizure, Southerly and Voiceworks. In 2017 she edited poetry for Voiceworks and the UTS Writers’ Anthology. She was also twice shortlisted for the UTS Writers’ Anthology Prize. Her first collection CRAVE is forthcoming in 2018.
