It’s that time of year when the suspense builds to fever pitch and we find out who will win! Who will win the $1500 Leon Shann award, the 2nd prize of $500, 3rd prize of $200 and the much coveted Martin Downey Urban Realist Award. Who has our esteemed 2018 judge Joel Deane chosen? How many of the poets who win things will actually be from Melbourne and able to receive their prize in person? It is after all an International Poetry Competition! It’s also very close to the time when Collected Works closes its doors, so come and have a drink, celebrate poetry and offer your undying thanks to Kris and Retta at the bookshop. MC for the evening will be Di Cousens, and readings (where the winning poets are not available) will be by MPU committee members. Free entry and there may be a raffle.
