Ellie Malbon + Tricia Dearborn

  • Monday 5 March – 7pm to 9pm
  • $5 entry. Special open mike

Canberra’s Ellie Malbon joins Sydney’s Tricia Dearborn to present a cavalcade of engaging, vital and feisty poems. You know you need to see this.

Open mic note: March is the anniversary of the 2007 bombing of ‘the street of booksellers’ (Al Mutanabbi Street) in Baghdad, which killed or injured many booksellers, book buyers, poets, writers, and bystanders.

On each anniversary of the bombing, poets from around the world remember the victims through poetry focussing on rebirth and hope. We encourage our open mic-ers to share poetry on these themes – their own poems, or poetry by others. If anyone is able to share a poem in Arabic that would be very welcome.

12 March – Abhishek Gupta + Jane Liddell-King (UK)

Jane, an international guest from Cambridge, UK, and Abhi, a stalwart of Canberra’s performance scene, combine for a varied night of poetic surprises. Also includes an exhibition by Canberra artist Nancy Tingey of works created in response to Jane Liddell-King’s poems.

  • Includes open mic.
  • $5 on the door.
