Miranda Lello is a Canberra poet and performer whose debut poetry collection, A Song, The World To Come,  was published earlier this year by Recent Work Press. It took 35 years to write. Canberra poetry fans will be familiar with Miranda’s compelling performances from The Salt Room, Canberra Slambouree, BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! and of course right here at Smith’s Alternative when she took the stage for That Poetry Thing in July 2017. She has been a featured performer at the Noted Festival and has had multiple poems shortlisted for the University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor’s International Poetry Prize. She also thinks poetry is broken, but that’s what she likes about it.  Her muses include Canberra, bicycles, and traveling alone.

Sarah Rice won the inaugural 2014 Ron Pretty poetry award, the 2014 Bruce Dawe poetry prize, co-won the 2013 Writing Ventures, and 2011 Gwen Harwood poetry prizes, and was shortlisted in the Montreal, Tom Howard, Drake-Brockman, CJ Dennis, New Millennium, Fish, Axel Clark, Michael Thwaites poetry awards amongst others. Her limited-edition, art-book of poetry Those Who Travel(prints Patsy Payne), is held in the NGA and other institutions. Publications include the Global Poetry Anthology, Award Winning Australian Writing, Best Australian Poetry, Island, ABR, Southerly, Aesthetica, The New Guard, Australian Poetry Journal. Her full-length collection Fingertip of the Tongue was published with UWAP this year.
