Australian Poetry is delighted to announce the three judges for the 2023 Anne Elder Award panel are Jeanine Leane, Harry Reid, and Panda Wong. Harry Reid was the 2022 Anne Elder Award co-winner, with the other co-winner, Theodore Ell, invited to be a future judge.

 

2022 Anne Elder Award panel:

 

JL is a Wiradjuri writer, poet and teacher from the Murrumbidgee River near Gundagai. Her poetry has won numerous awards and prizes – most recently the David Harold Tribe Prize 2023. Jeanine is widely published in the areas of Aboriginal literature,  literary critique, and writing identity and difference. She is currently a First Nations Writer in Residence at the University of Melbourne where she previously taught Creative Writing and Aboriginal Literature.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Harry Reid is a co-director of Sick Leave and the author of Leave Me Alone (Cordite, 2022) & the best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend (Puncher & Wattmann, 2020). Leave Me Alone was awarded the Anne Elder Award & the Mary Gilmore Award in 2023.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Panda Wong is a poet living on unceded Wurundjeri land. Working across sound, performance and the digital, her practice circles around the void. In 2022, her first chapbook angel wings dumpster fire (2022) was published by Puncher & Wattmann. This was followed shortly by her debut poetry EP salmon cannon me into the abyss. She also co-edited Best of Australian Poems 2023.
