The University of Canberra’s Poetry on the Move festival and COVID-19.

The University of Canberra’s Centre for Creative and Cultural Research is responding to ongoing uncertainty about the COVID-19 virus by heeding the advice of experts and the government, and postponing 2020’s Poetry on the Move festival, originally scheduled for 16-20 October. While we deeply regret having to do so, the health and safety of our poets, audiences and volunteers is our top priority.

Poetry on the Move is in the process of revising and rescheduling, with plans to accommodate an expanded festival program in 2021. We plan to hold the festival earlier in the year (April/May) and, hopefully, to give two festivals worth of poetry for the price of one. More details will follow.

Meanwhile, we are in the process of putting together some initiatives that aim at charting these strange times of crisis and isolation through poetry and poets. All of these will be virtual and require nothing but your time, attention and love of poetry. Again, more details will follow.

In the meantime, please sign up to our mailing list at poetryonthemove.net, or follow us on Facebook (@poetryonthemovefestival), Twitter (@Poetryonthemove), or Instagram (poetryonthemove) for updates on more Poetry on the Move news  (links in the footer below).

Please stay safe, and we wish the best to you and yours.

Warm regards
Shane Strange
Festival Director, Poetry on the Move.
