While the pandemic has brought into stark focus how bound we are to global influences, it has paradoxically turned our attention sharply towards our own communities and surrounds. Join a collection of the country’s favourite poets, Luke Beesley, Andy Jackson, Jeanine Leane, Ellen van Neerven, Jessica Wilkinson, along with host and fellow poet Claire Gaskin, as they perform works that look close to home to explore who we are, who we have been, and who we could be.

Luke Beesley is a poet, artist and singer-songwriter. His fifth poetry collection, Aqua Spinach (Giramondo), was shortlisted for the 2019 ALS Gold Medal. His poetry has been published widely in Australia and internationally, and has been translated into several languages. He lives in Melbourne.
Andy Jackson has been shortlisted for the Kenneth Slessor Prize for Poetry and the John Bray Poetry Award. He has co-edited disability-themed issues of Southerly and Australian Poetry Journal, and works as a creative writing teacher and mentor. Andy’s next poetry collection, Human Looking, is forthcoming from Giramondo in 2021.
Jeanine Leane is a Wiradjuri poet and writer from the Murrumbidgee River. She currently teaches at the University of Melbourne.
Ellen van Neerven is an award-winning author and editor belonging to the Mununjali Yugambeh people of south east Queensland. They are the editor of the recent anthology Flock: First Nations Stories Then and Now (UQP, 2021), which includes short stories by Melissa Lucashenko and Tara June Winch.
Jessica Wilkinson has published three poetic biographies, most recently Music Made Visible: A Biography of George Balanchine. She is the founding editor of Rabbit, a journal for nonfiction poetry, and teaches creative writing at RMIT University
Claire Gaskin’s A Bud (2006) was released by John Leonard Press and shortlisted in the John Bray SA Literary Award in 2008. Her collection Paperweight (2013) was published by Hunter Publishers and Eurydice Speaks (2021) was published by Hunter Publishers. Ismene’s Survivable Resistance (2021) was published by Puncher & Wattmann.
