Australian Poetry (AP) is very pleased to announce the appointment of Melinda Bufton as our new CEO and Publisher. Melinda will join Australian Poetry on 23 March 2026.
Melinda is an experienced leader and poet. She has worked extensively in higher education, with a focus on program development and leading cross-institutionalcollaborations. Within the poetry world she is involved in not-for-profit literature education (via the Melbourne School of Literature) mentoring and has consulted in arts career advisory services for emerging writers. In her own poetry practice, she is the author of three collections and has been published and anthologised widely.
On joining Australian Poetry, Melinda says ‘My enthusiasm for how poetry is experienced, read and created underpins all that I do. Poetry is so exciting, networked and alive in Australia; I cannot wait to see what can be grown and created next.’
