Varuna the National Writers’ House invites writers from across Australia to apply for a Varuna Residential Fellowship.

A Varuna Residential Fellowship offers writers working across a wide range of literary forms and genres the gift of uninterrupted time to develop a new work in an inspiring environment and a collegial atmosphere.

Fellowships include full board and accommodation including a private writing studio at Varuna the National Writers’ House in the world heritage Blue Mountains region of NSW.

Varuna assesses applications on merit and clarity of work plan and encourages writers from diverse backgrounds and at all stages of their career development to apply.

Varuna will award 24 fellowships in 2018 with residencies of two or three weeks available to be taken between January and the end of May 2019.

Applications for the 2019 residency program will open 16 June 2018 and close midnight on 30 July 2018 (AEST).

Results will be available on the Varuna website by 14 September 2018.

Fellowships can be taken between January and the end of May 2019.
