The guest editors for APA Vol.12 are Lachlan Brown and Keri Glastonbury.

Submissions to the Anthology open on Friday, 23 May, and close Monday 23 June 2025, 11.59 pm (AEST).

We invite all Australian Poetry subscribers to submit.

The Anthology publication date is 30 September, with Acceptances only being sent in late August.

As in previous years, the Anthology is national in reach but with a focus on a particular state/territory or region. For 2025, this focus is on regional NSW.

Guidelines and how to submit

  • You must be a current Australian Poetry subscriber to submit and to be published.
  • Poems can be previously published.
  • Please submit, via the Wufoo form, up to three poems.
  • Only three poems will be considered so please do not submit more.
  • Only one poem per poet can be selected, but this does not exclude the selection of a cycle of poems.
  • Each poem must be sent as a word document as well as a PDF. The PDF is used for typesetting purposes.
  • Please note that submissions sent outside of our submission dates will not be read or considered.
  • Please also send a bio of up to 50 words and your contact (phone, postal address, email) details.

  • Please note that 2025 payment for a selected poem is a one-year digital subscription to Australian Poetry, with all subscriber benefits included: https://www.australianpoetry.org/subscribe/
  • All poets who are accepted within the guideline submission dates will be contacted with acceptance notices. As with the Journal, we will not be sending rejection notices, due to the high volume of submissions received.

Lachlan Brown is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing and English at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. He is the author of two books of poetry published by Giramondo, Limited Cities (2017), and Lunar Inheritance (2017). Lachlan has collaborated with various artists, including Tony Curran for the 2016 exhibition Limiting Entropy and the photographer James Farley for a project titled Walking in Isolation set on Willans Hill. Lachlan’s poem ‘Any Saturday, 2021, Running Westward’ won the Newcastle Poetry Prize. His poems have appeared in The Australian, Antipodes, Rabbit, Australian Poetry Journal, and Cordite.

 

Keri Glastonbury is a poet and Associate Professor in Creative Writing at the University of Newcastle. She has been the recipient of the Australia Council’s BR Whiting Residency in Rome and an Asialink Literature Residency in India. Her poetry collection Newcastle Sonnets was published by Giramondo in 2018, and shortlisted for the 2019 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry. Her previous collections include Grit Salute (Papertiger, 2012). Her new book 51 Alterities will be published by Giramondo in August 2025. Keri grew up in Wagga Wagga on Wiradjuri Country and is a strong advocate for writing from regional NSW.
