This MPU event is a very special one for a number of reasons.

Very good reason to come along #1  –
The 2019 Melbourne Poets Union Annual General Meeting, which shall hertofore be called the MPU AGM for the purposes of brevity. And brevity is the soul of any good AGM. You can vote.

Very good reason to come along #2
It’s a poetry gig and a retirement party all rolled into one! On this evening MPU will celebrate the great contributions of its former Editor in Chief Anne Elvey, who stood down at the end of 2018, and the amazing Wendy Fleming. Wendy is retiring from the committee after approximately 19 years, which is massive. Over that time she has held every committee position it’s possible to hold and MPU will miss her in so many ways.

Very good reason to come along #3
The Open mic means you can read your own work, and if you feel like using your 4 minute spot to celebrate Anne and/or Wendy of course you may do so.

6pm start for the AGM
7pm start for the reading/gig/party

The AGM is free to all members, the event is priced at $8 members / $10 non-member concession /$12 waged non-members. The venue is quite delightful and easy to get to, located right in the heart of Footscray very close to all forms of public transport. See the handy map below.
